Acne is a common skin problem that widely reffers to pimples, blackheads and blemishes that occur mainly in the face. While acne is most common among teenagers, it may strike at any time in life and this can sometimes be very distressing. Hygine and healthy eating are the great ways of preventing acne because it's growth is accelerated by accumulation of dead cells and oil in the cells.

There are many medications out there that are relatively effective in treatment or control of acne, but to get even better results, home-made remedies can go a long way in both preventing the occurence of acne as well as treating it if it occurs. One of the most effective natural remedies in acne control and treatment is yoghurt.

Yoghurt is derived from the fermentation of milk using the bacteria (Lactobacillus sp) that is found in 'Yoghurt Culture'. Due to its acidic nature, yoghurt helps greatly in destroying the bacteria that grows within the hair follicle - that is responsible for infection of the sebum gland. Yoghurt is also known to have strong anti-bacterial properties that destroys bacterial cells within the body while at the same time making the immune system stronger.

So, regular consumption of yoghurt can help in the prevention and treatment of acne. If you are using yoghurt or other medications to treat acne, it's also very important to take measures that will stop the acne from spreading.

Below are tips on proper skin care if you are infected with acne -

1) Avoid Popping the Pimples:

Acnes are irritating and you can easily be tempted to pop them out. However, you should avoid poping them out as much as possible as this will make them spread to other parts of the skin. If this happens, clean up the affected area with a mild soap or alcohol as soon as possible to destroy the bacteria.

2) Avoid hair on your face:

Hair rubbing over your face can easily spread infection to non-affected areas. So preventing hair from touching affected areas can be useful in preventing acne from spreading.

3) Take plenty of water:

Water is an effective agent in the control and treatment of many health disorders. Water is good for the skin because it helps clean up the dead cells and removes toxins from the body. So if you are infected with acne, drinking plenty of water will help.

4) Use of sour creams:

Sour creams help destroy the bacteria on skin surface due to their acidic nature. You can effectively treat acne by applying a sour cream on the affected area for at least 15 minutes and then cleaning it up. Yoghurt is perfect for this and mixing it with lemon will give you even better results.

When you are infected with acne, it is also a good practice to wash your face regularly as well as basking in the sun. Please note that using natural remedies should not make you underestimate tne need to see a doctor. If you are infected with acne, you should consider seeing a dermatologist in addition to trying natural remedies.
